STA-BIL Fast Fix is a fuel additive designed to clean carburetors, injectors, and fuel systems in small engines (lawn mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, generators) while removing water and stabilizing fuel. The 8-ounce bottle treats up to 20 gallons of gasoline.
Fitment & Compatibility
- Engine types: Works with any 2- or 4-cycle small engine using standard gasoline (up to E10 ethanol blends). Not for diesel or 2-cycle oil-premix systems unless you mix it with the fuel first.
- No deck-size or brand restrictions: Fits any mower brand (Honda, Briggs & Stratton, Kohler, Toro, etc.) because it’s a fuel additive, not a mechanical part.
- What to check: Make sure your engine can run on treated fuel. Do not use in engines with catalytic converters or fuel-injected systems that require specific additives—check your owner’s manual if unsure.
- Storage: Store at room temperature; avoid freezing or extreme heat.
Key Things to Know
- Quality: Highly rated (4.6/5 stars) and trusted brand. Works fast—often clears rough idle or stalling within one tank of treated fuel.
- Installation difficulty: Extremely easy. Shake bottle, pour into fuel tank (1 oz per 2.5 gallons), then run engine for 5–10 minutes. No tools needed.
- Common gotchas: Overdosing won’t harm the engine but wastes product. If your engine won’t start at all, treat the fuel and let it sit overnight before running. Not a fix for mechanical failures (e.g., broken carburetor float, clogged fuel filter).
- Water removal: Effective for small amounts of water in fuel (condensation). For large water contamination, drain the tank first.
Should You Buy It
Buy it if your small engine runs rough, stalls, or hesitates due to old fuel, ethanol deposits, or minor water in the tank. It’s a cheap, low-effort first step before replacing parts—especially useful for mowers stored over winter. Skip it if the engine has a broken carburetor, bad spark plug, or other mechanical issues that need actual repair.
