What It Is

These are live St. Augustine CitraBlue grass plugs—3" x 3" squares of sod with established roots—designed to repair bare spots, thin patches, or dead areas in an existing lawn. Not a mower part; they’re for lawn restoration after mower damage, pet spots, or shade/frost kill.

Fitment & Compatibility

  • Cannot ship to California or Arizona due to agricultural restrictions. Confirm your state is eligible before ordering.
  • Requires St. Augustine or CitraBlue grass type in your existing lawn. Mixing with Bermuda, Zoysia, or Fescue will create a patchy, mismatched look.
  • Spacing: Plugs should be planted 12–18 inches apart for full coverage in 8–12 weeks. A 16-count tray covers about 16–36 sq ft depending on spacing.
  • Soil prep needed: Loosen soil 2–3 inches deep, remove debris, and keep plugs moist for the first 2 weeks. Not a drop-in solution for compacted or rocky ground.

Key Things to Know

  • Quality: High-rated (4.5/5) for root health and survival rate, but plugs may arrive with some yellowing from shipping—normal, they green up in 1–2 weeks.
  • Installation difficulty: Easy for small patches (dig hole, drop plug, water). Larger areas require more time and consistent watering.
  • Common gotcha: Do not let plugs dry out. Water daily for the first 10–14 days, otherwise they’ll wilt and die.
  • Season: Best planted in late spring to early summer when soil temps are 65–80°F. Fall planting risks frost damage before roots establish.

Should You Buy It

Buy if you have a St. Augustine or CitraBlue lawn with isolated damage (up to ~36 sq ft) and want a reliable, no-chemical fix. Skip if you need to repair a whole lawn, live in a restricted state, or prefer seed—St. Augustine doesn’t produce viable seed.
