What It Is

The Scotts LSS10272PS is a cordless grass shear and shrub trimmer that uses a 7.5-volt lithium-ion battery. It includes a wheeled extension handle, turning it into a walk-behind edger for lawns. It’s designed for light trimming around beds, walkways, and shaping small shrubs.

Fitment & Compatibility

  • No mower deck fitment – this is a standalone tool, not a mower attachment. It does not replace or fit any riding mower, zero-turn, or walk-behind mower deck.
  • Battery – uses a proprietary 7.5V lithium-ion pack (included). Not compatible with other Scotts or common 20V/40V battery systems. Replacement battery is Scotts part #LSSBAT7.5.
  • Blade type – comes with a 5-inch shear blade and a 7-inch shrub blade. Blades are specific to this model; check Scotts part #LSSBLADE for replacements.
  • Wheeled handle – attaches to the shear head via a quick-release clamp. Works only with the LSS10272PS head, not other trimmers.

Key Things to Know

  • Battery life – rated for about 30–40 minutes of continuous use. Recharge time is roughly 3–5 hours. Plan for smaller jobs or buy a spare battery.
  • Blade swapping – requires a Phillips screwdriver and takes about 2 minutes. The shear blade is for grass; the shrub blade is for light woody stems up to ΒΌ inch.
  • Wheeled handle – good for edging but the wheels are small and plastic. Won’t handle rough or thick turf well. The handle extends from 24 to 36 inches.
  • Build quality – plastic housing is light but not rugged. Dropping it on concrete can crack the battery compartment. Avoid heavy-duty or daily commercial use.

Should You Buy It

Buy this if you need a lightweight, affordable trimmer for light-duty edging and small shrub shaping, especially if you want the wheeled handle option for walk-behind edging. Skip it if you have a large yard, thick overgrowth, or need a tool that shares batteries with other equipment.
