What It Is

The PA09 PTO Extender is a driveline adapter that adds length to a power take-off shaft, converting a female 1-3/8” 6-spline connection to a male 1-3/8” 6-spline output. It’s designed for compact tractors, zero-turn mowers, and implements where clearance or reach is needed between the PTO shaft and attachment.

Fitment & Compatibility

Before buying, measure your existing PTO shaft’s spline count and diameter—this unit fits 1-3/8” diameter, 6-spline female inputs only (common on sub-compact and compact tractors). Confirm your implement or mower deck uses a male 1-3/8” 6-spline connection. This will not fit 1-1/8” or 540/1000 RPM shafts. Check overall length needed: the extender adds about 2–3 inches. Works with most aftermarket and OEM decks, but verify your PTO shaft isn’t already too long (causing binding). Not for use on heavy-duty commercial mowers over 70 HP—torque limit is 70 HP.

Key Things to Know

  • Installation is simple – slides onto the existing female PTO shaft and locks with a hairpin or bolt (included). No special tools required.
  • Torque rating is 70 HP – fine for residential/light commercial mowers, but avoid on larger tractors or heavy brush cutters.
  • Potential for vibration – if your PTO shaft is already out of balance, adding an extender can amplify it. Check for wobble before full use.
  • Check PTO shaft length – too long of an extender can cause the shaft to bottom out or damage the gearbox. Measure clearance before installing.

Should You Buy It

Buy this if you need a short, affordable spacer to clear a tight driveline angle or reach a slightly misaligned mower deck on a compact tractor or zero-turn under 70 HP. Skip it if you have a high-horsepower tractor or need a longer extension—look for a telescoping or adjustable PTO extender instead.
