This is an aftermarket ignition switch that replaces a wide range of OEM part numbers (140301, 92556, 092556MA, 725-1717, 925-1717, 092556, 532140301, BS54124, 9900-9031, AN113336BB1, 430-674, 5412H). It’s designed for riding lawn mowers and tractors from MTD, Cub Cadet, Murray, Craftsman, Husqvarna, AYP, and Poulan.
Fitment & Compatibility
- Check your OEM number first: Match it to one of the listed numbers above. If yours isn’t on the list, measure your original switch’s diameter (typically 13/16” or 7/8”) and terminal layout (usually 5 or 6 spade terminals).
- Brand coverage: Works on most MTD-built models, including Cub Cadet, Murray, and Craftsman, plus Husqvarna, AYP (American Yard Products), and Poulan. Not guaranteed for John Deere, Toro, or older Kohler-only systems.
- Key type: This switch uses a standard round key (included). If your mower uses a square or specialty key, this won’t fit.
- Wiring diagram: Aftermarket switches may have slightly different terminal positions. Confirm your harness plug matches the switch’s blade layout before installing.
Key Things to Know
- Quality is decent for the price: It’s a basic plastic/brass switch. Works fine for occasional use, but may feel less robust than OEM for heavy-duty commercial mowing.
- Installation is simple: Requires a screwdriver and basic wiring knowledge. No special tools needed. Takes about 10 minutes.
- Common gotcha: The included key may be slightly loose in some OEM key cylinders. Test before reassembling the dash.
- No warranty paperwork: This is a generic aftermarket part. If you need a guaranteed fit for a warranty repair, stick with the OEM Cub Cadet switch.
Should You Buy It
Buy this if you need a cheap, quick replacement for a common riding mower ignition switch and you’ve matched your OEM number. It’s a solid budget option for DIY repairs on older or non-commercial tractors. Skip it if you want a heavy-duty switch for daily commercial use or need a perfect factory key feel.
