What It Is

This is a bundled combo kit: the WG743 40V 17" cordless lawn mower (with two 40V 4.0Ah batteries and a charger) and the WG163 GT 3.0 20V 12" cordless string trimmer/edger (with one 20V 2.0Ah battery and charger). Designed for medium-sized lawns (up to 1/3 acre) and light trimming/edging tasks.

Fitment & Compatibility

  • Mower: Only compatible with WORX 40V Power Share batteries (WG7 series). Deck is 17" steel; check that your grass type and terrain (slopes, thick St. Augustine) can handle a single-blade mower.
  • Trimmer: Uses WORX 20V Power Share batteries (WG1 series). 12" cutting swath; accepts 0.080" trimmer line. Not compatible with 40V batteries.
  • No cross-compatibility between mower and trimmer batteries—different voltage systems (40V vs 20V).
  • OEM only: No aftermarket batteries are reliably compatible. Stick with WORX branded packs.
  • Check your yard size: 4.0Ah mower battery runs ~30-45 min on a single charge; if your lawn exceeds 1/3 acre, you may need an extra battery.

Key Things to Know

  • Batteries charge separately: Mower uses two 40V 4.0Ah batteries; trimmer uses one 20V 2.0Ah. You get 3 total batteries, but only the 40V packs are shared among other WORX 40V tools.
  • Single-blade mower: The 17" steel blade is effective but can struggle with tall, wet, or thick grass. Expect to make two passes in heavy growth.
  • Trimmer head: The GT 3.0 uses a bump-feed head. Spool replacement is straightforward (part # WA0016). No auto-feed.
  • No self-propel: The mower is push-only. If your lawn is hilly, consider a self-propelled model.

Should You Buy It

Buy this if you have a small to medium lawn (under 1/3 acre) and want a cordless mower/trimmer combo from a single brand with interchangeable 40V batteries. It’s a good value for the price if you’re already in the WORX ecosystem. Skip it if you need self-propulsion, have a larger yard, or prefer a mulching/collecting system with more blade options.
