What It Is

This is an adjustable jig that holds your mower blade at a fixed angle (15°–45°) while you sharpen it with an angle grinder. It’s designed for residential push-mower, riding-mower, and zero-turn blades—any blade you can remove and clamp.

Fitment & Compatibility

  • Blade thickness: Works with blades up to about 8mm thick. Measure your blade’s thickness before buying—thicker commercial blades may not clamp.
  • Blade length: No hard limit, but the jig’s base is ~12 inches. Very long blades (over 24 inches) may be awkward to balance on the included balancer.
  • Angle grinder: Fits most 4″ or 4.5″ angle grinders with a standard M10 or 5/8″-11 arbor. Verify your grinder’s arbor thread size.
  • Adapter pins: 4 included pins (6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm) fit common blade center-hole diameters. Check your blade’s center hole size—most walk-behind blades use 8mm or 10mm, riding blades often 12mm.
  • Brands: Not brand-specific—works with any blade that fits the clamp and pin dimensions. No OEM restrictions.

Key Things to Know

  • Setup takes a few tries: Getting the blade angle locked and the grinder aligned requires patience. The adjustment knob can loosen under vibration—tighten firmly.
  • Balancer included but basic: The balancer uses a simple cone-and-bearing setup. Works fine for home use but isn’t as precise as a dedicated balancer.
  • Grinder dust: You’ll get metal filings everywhere. Use a magnet or work over a drop cloth. Wear eye protection.
  • Not for sharpening while blade is on mower: This is a bench tool—you must remove the blade completely.

Should You Buy It

If you sharpen blades more than twice a season and already own an angle grinder, this jig saves time and gives consistent edge angles. It’s not for pros who sharpen daily (commercial sharpeners are faster), but for a homeowner with a few mowers, it’s a solid step up from freehand grinding. The 3.8 rating reflects the learning curve, not a design flaw.
