What It Is

This is a weld-on tail wheel mount bushing with a Zerk fitting, designed to replace the worn pivot point on Bush Hog Squealer rotary cutters and similar mowers. It allows the caster yoke to swivel smoothly, reducing vibration and extending wheel assembly life.

Fitment & Compatibility

  • Models: Direct fit for Bush Hog Squealer SQ36, SQ42, SQ48, SQ60, SQ84, SQ720. Also works on some other brands with a 1-1/4" caster yoke opening.
  • Measurements: The housing OD must match your existing fork tube ID (usually 1.5" to 2"). Measure your old bushing or the yoke bore before ordering.
  • OEM vs Aftermarket: This is a non-OEM replacement. It replaces the factory pressed-in bushing but requires welding onto the mower deck frame — it does not bolt on.
  • Check: Confirm your current bushing is pressed into a tube (not a flat plate) and that you have clearance to weld without removing the wheel assembly.

Key Things to Know

  • Installation difficulty: Moderate. You need a welder and basic skills to cut off the old bushing and weld this one in place. Not a bolt-on job.
  • Zerk fitting: The included grease fitting lets you lube the pivot without disassembly — a big upgrade over sealed bushings.
  • Material: Typically cast iron or steel. This one is steel with a hardened inner surface. Avoid cheap cast iron versions that crack under load.
  • Common gotcha: The weld-on design means you must align the bushing perfectly square to the deck — a crooked install will bind the yoke and wear tires unevenly.

Should You Buy It

If your Squealer’s tail wheel wobbles or the yoke binds, and you have welding access, this is the right fix. It’s stronger than the original pressed bushing and will outlast the deck with proper greasing. Skip if you need a bolt-on replacement or can’t weld.
