What It Is

This is a two-in-one sharpening and balancing kit for lawn mower blades. It lets you restore a dull blade’s cutting edge and check for wobble before reinstalling, suitable for push mowers, riding mowers, and zero-turns.

Fitment & Compatibility

  • Blade type: Works with most standard straight and medium-curved blades up to 24 inches long. Not for mulching blades with deep curves or notched ends.
  • Sharpener angle: Adjustable from 15° to 45°—covers the typical 30°–35° factory bevel on most residential mower blades.
  • Balancer: The cone-and-shaft design fits any blade with a center hole (common sizes: 5/8”, 7/8”, 1”). Measure your blade’s center hole diameter before buying.
  • Deck size: No direct deck-size limit, but very long blades (over 24”) may be awkward to balance on this kit.
  • Brand/model: Universal design—no OEM restrictions. Works with Craftsman, Toro, Honda, John Deere, Husqvarna, Troy-Bilt, and others.

Key Things to Know

  • Sharpening guide: The adjustable angle jig clamps onto the blade and guides a file or grinder. You still need a file or angle grinder (not included).
  • Balancing accuracy: The cone-and-shaft balancer is simple but sensitive to debris or burrs on the blade’s center hole. Clean the hole and shaft before each use.
  • Installation difficulty: Easy. No tools needed for the balancer; sharpener jig requires a hex wrench (included) to set the angle. Expect 10–15 minutes per blade.
  • Gotcha: The sharpener jig works best with a 6”–8” flat file. If you use an angle grinder, be careful not to overheat the blade edge (blueing weakens the steel).

Should You Buy It

Buy this if you mow a standard residential lawn and want to sharpen blades yourself without buying a bench grinder. It’s a solid value for the price, especially if you have multiple mowers or swap blades often. Skip it if you have heavily worn, bent, or non-standard blades—those need professional sharpening or replacement.
