What It Is

This is a Quickload-style bladed trimmer head that replaces the standard string spool on Ryobi string trimmers. It uses 20 included plastic blades instead of trimmer line, designed for cutting thick weeds and light brush on 18V, 24V, and Hybrid Ryobi models.

Fitment & Compatibility

Check three things before buying:

  • Model list: Fits Ryobi 18V (P2008, P20108, RY40200, RY40220), 24V (RY40400, RY40430), and Hybrid (RY40040, RY40050) trimmers. Also compatible with AC052N1 and ACFHRL2 heads.
  • Shaft size: Requires a 10mm (0.39") threaded shaft. Measure your trimmer’s output shaft diameter and thread pitch.
  • Not universal: Does not fit Ryobi 40V expand-it models, gas trimmers, or units with a 8mm or 12mm shaft. If your trimmer uses a bump-feed string head, verify the threads match.

Key Things to Know

  • Installation: Easy—unscrew the old head, screw on this one. No tools needed for most models, but some require an included wrench.
  • Blade quality: The plastic blades are brittle on rocks or concrete; they snap rather than wear down. Keep the spare 20-pack handy for frequent replacements.
  • Performance: Cuts thicker weeds and brambles faster than string, but leaves a rougher edge. Not ideal for fine grass trimming near flower beds.
  • Noise & debris: Louder than string heads, and blades can fling small debris. Always wear eye protection.

Should You Buy It

Buy this if you frequently tackle overgrown weeds, blackberries, or light brush with a Ryobi 18V/24V/Hybrid trimmer and want to avoid constantly replacing string. Skip it if you need a clean, manicured trim near gardens or hardscaping, or if your Ryobi model has a non-standard shaft thread.
