What It Is

This is a manual, push-type lawn aerator designed for small to medium lawns. It uses 14 steel spikes to puncture soil, reducing compaction and improving water/air flow. No machine or engine required—it’s purely hand-operated.

Fitment & Compatibility

  • No machine fitment needed – works on any lawn, no deck or engine compatibility to check.
  • Measure your lawn – best for lawns under 5,000 sq ft. Larger areas will be very labor-intensive.
  • Soil type matters – works best in loamy or moist clay soil. Rocky or extremely hard, dry soil will bend spikes.
  • T-Handle height – handle is about 35” tall. Check that it’s comfortable for your height; tall users may need to stoop slightly.

Key Things to Know

  • Spike vs. core aeration – this is spike aeration (pokes holes). It does not remove soil plugs like a core aerator. For heavy compaction on clay, core aeration is more effective.
  • Assembly required – you’ll need to attach the handle and foot bar. Tools included, but plan 10–15 minutes.
  • Anti-clog design – spikes are spaced to minimize soil buildup, but sticky wet soil can still clog. Clean with a wire brush after use.
  • Durability – steel spikes are decent for light duty, but the T-handle is hollow tubing. Avoid leaning your full body weight on it to prevent bending.
  • No maintenance – no engine, belts, or blades. Just rinse and dry after each use.

Should You Buy It

Buy this if you have a small lawn, want a low-cost, no-gas solution for light aeration, and don’t mind a bit of manual effort. Skip it if you have heavy clay, a large yard, or need deep core aeration—rent a machine or hire a pro for those jobs.
