What It Is

The Landzie 42-inch Hollow Tine Lawn Aerator is a manual, walk-behind core aerator tool designed for small to medium-sized lawns. It uses stainless steel tines to pull soil plugs, reducing compaction and improving water/nutrient flow—no engine or tractor required.

Fitment & Compatibility

This is a standalone tool, not a mower attachment. No deck size or model/brand checks needed. Before buying, measure your lawn’s soil type (clay vs. sandy) and moisture level—dry, hard ground will make this very difficult to push. The 42-inch width works best on flat, open turf; tight corners or slopes may require multiple passes. It’s compatible with any mower brand (Toro, Honda, John Deere, etc.) since it’s used separately.

Key Things to Know

  • Assembly required: You’ll need to attach the handle and tines. Tools are included, but expect 20–30 minutes of setup.
  • Weight & effort: At roughly 30 lbs, it’s light enough to lift, but pushing it through compacted soil takes significant upper-body strength. Wet the lawn the day before for easier plugging.
  • Tine durability: Stainless steel resists rust, but tines can bend if you hit rocks or roots. Inspect the area first.
  • Plug spacing: The tines are fixed; you can’t adjust spacing. It pulls cores about 3 inches deep, which is adequate for most lawns but not for severe compaction.

Should You Buy It

Buy this if you have a small, flat lawn (under 5,000 sq ft) and want an affordable, manual way to aerate without renting a machine. Skip it if your ground is rocky, your lawn is larger, or you prefer a powered aerator—the effort required makes it a poor fit for big or tough turf.
