What It Is

This is a complete 20V cordless string trimmer and edger combo from KIMO, designed for light-duty lawn trimming and edging. It’s a standalone tool, not a replacement battery or charger for another brand’s system.

Fitment & Compatibility

  • Not a universal battery platform – The 20V batteries and charger work only with KIMO’s own 20V tools. They are not compatible with DeWalt, Ryobi, Black+Decker, or any other major brand’s battery system.
  • Check your yard size – With 2 x 2.0Ah batteries, runtime is roughly 20–30 minutes per battery under light cutting. For lawns over ¼ acre, expect to need both fully charged batteries to finish.
  • Line type – Uses 0.065-inch (1.6mm) dual-sided cutting line. The included 10-pack of pre-cut lines is proprietary to KIMO’s bump-feed head. Standard spool line may not fit without modification.
  • Wheels – The included wheeled edging guide is designed for the KIMO head only. It won’t attach to other trimmers.

Key Things to Know

  • Quality concerns – 3.0-star average from 71 reviews suggests frequent issues: batteries failing after a few months, the head jamming, or the line feed mechanism not working reliably.
  • Assembly required – Comes mostly assembled, but you’ll need to attach the handle, guard, and wheels. Tools included, but expect 10–15 minutes.
  • Line replacement is fiddly – The dual-line system uses pre-cut lines that snap into the head. If one breaks, you must replace both sides. Spare line packs are sold by KIMO only.
  • Not for heavy weeds – 20V motor and 12-inch cutting path handle grass and light weeds fine, but thick brush or overgrown areas will bog down or stall.

Should You Buy It

Only if you need a cheap, lightweight trimmer/edger for a small yard (under ¼ acre) and don’t already own a battery system from a major brand. The low price buys convenience, but expect limited durability and no compatibility with other tools. For the same budget, a corded electric trimmer from a known brand will likely last longer and cut better.
