What It Is

This is a removable caster wheel lockdown system for zero-turn mowers (ZTRs), designed to secure the front caster wheels during trailer transport. It fits tires with a diameter of 10.5" to 12.5" and prevents the mower from shifting or turning while on a trailer.

Fitment & Compatibility

  • Tire size only: Check your front caster tire diameter (not wheel rim). Measure from the ground to the top of the tire tread. Must be between 10.5" and 12.5".
  • No mower brand restriction: Works with any ZTR from John Deere, Toro, Kubota, Gravely, Scag, Husqvarna, Bad Boy, etc., as long as tire size matches.
  • Trailer deck type: Designed for flatbed lawn/landscape trailers. Not for tilt-bed or ramps with built-in wheel chocks.
  • OEM vs aftermarket: Works equally with stock or aftermarket caster tires of the correct diameter. No modification needed.
  • Measurement tip: Inflate tires to normal operating pressure before measuring. Over- or under-inflated tires will throw off fit.

Key Things to Know

  • Installation: No drilling or permanent modification. Slides over the caster tire and locks with a pin. Takes under 2 minutes per wheel once you get the hang of it.
  • Locking mechanism: Uses a removable padlock (not included) to deter theft. The pin itself is heavy-duty steel with a zinc coating.
  • Weight capacity: Rated for residential and light commercial ZTRs (up to ~1,200 lbs total mower weight). Not for zero-turn tractors or heavy-duty commercial mowers over 1,500 lbs.
  • Common gotcha: The lockdown works best on smooth trailer decking. Rough wood or expanded metal can cause the base to slide slightly—add a rubber mat under the mower if needed.

Should You Buy It

Buy this if you frequently transport a ZTR on a trailer and want a quick, tool-free way to keep the front wheels from swiveling during transit. It’s a solid upgrade over ratchet straps for caster control, but skip it if you have caster tires outside the 10.5"–12.5" range or need a permanent, bolted-down solution.
