What It Is

The Husqvarna BLi22 is a 40V, 144Wh lithium-ion battery designed to power the 100-series of Husqvarna battery tools, including chainsaws, leaf blowers, trimmers, and hedge cutters. It’s a high-capacity replacement or spare battery for medium-to-heavy yard work.

Fitment & Compatibility

  • Tool series: Works exclusively with Husqvarna 100-series tools (model numbers ending in “i” or “100,” e.g., 120i, 320i, 525i). Does not fit older 40V tools without the “i” suffix or the 300/500-series batteries.
  • OEM vs aftermarket: This is Husqvarna OEM. Third-party “compatible” batteries often have lower capacity, shorter lifespan, and may void tool warranties.
  • Physical check: Battery dimensions are roughly 5.5” x 3.5” x 4”. Measure your tool’s battery compartment—some older or non-Husqvarna adapters won’t accept the BLi22’s shape.
  • Charger compatibility: Works with Husqvarna QC40, QC80, and QC330 chargers. Not compatible with older 40V chargers (e.g., the ones with round connectors).
  • Voltage/Wh: 40V nominal, 144Wh. Confirm your tool supports this capacity—some lighter tools (e.g., small trimmers) may run but will be heavier and less balanced.

Key Things to Know

  • Run time: Typically 30–60 minutes of continuous use depending on tool and load. For a 120i chainsaw, expect ~40 cuts in 4x4 pine.
  • Install difficulty: Trivial—slides in and clicks. No tools required.
  • Common gotchas: The battery is heavy (about 2.5 lbs). On a trimmer, it can make the tool nose-heavy. Also, it doesn’t charge in freezing temps—store and charge above 32°F.
  • Quality: Good longevity if not fully drained. Husqvarna recommends recharging after each use, not storing dead. The BLi22 has internal BMS for overheat/overcurrent protection.

Should You Buy It

Buy this if you own multiple 100-series Husqvarna tools and need a spare for longer sessions, or if your original battery has degraded. Skip it if you only have one light-use tool—the smaller BLi10 (72Wh) is cheaper and lighter. For heavy users, the BLi22 is a solid, reliable OEM choice.
