What It Is

This is a heavy-duty electric PTO clutch for zero-turn mowers, delivering 300 ft-lb of torque (vs. 250 ft-lb OEM spec). It’s a direct upgrade for commercial mowers that engage the blades via an electromagnetic clutch, built for high-hour use and frequent engagement cycles.

Fitment & Compatibility

  • Check your OEM part number first: This replaces Ogura MA-GT3.5-MC07 / MAGT3.5-MC07 and is designed as an upgrade for OEM clutches rated at 250 ft-lb. It is not a universal fit.
  • Measure your shaft: Requires a 1” diameter crankshaft (common on Kawasaki, Briggs & Stratton, Kohler engines in 48-72” decks). Verify shaft length – must clear the clutch body (typically 2.5” minimum exposed shaft).
  • Electrical: 12V DC, 2-wire connector. Confirm your mower’s wiring harness matches (most use a standard flat 2-pin plug). Polarity-sensitive – reverse connection will not engage.
  • Bolt pattern: 4-bolt mounting pattern, 3.5” center-to-center. Confirm your engine’s mounting holes match.
  • Deck size: Works on any deck that uses a 250 ft-lb clutch, but torque is overkill for decks under 48”. Best for 54-72” commercial decks.

Key Things to Know

  • Bearing upgrade: Comes with replaceable C3 bearings (higher clearance for heat expansion) – these last longer than sealed bearings in dusty conditions. You can swap them without replacing the whole clutch.
  • Installation difficulty: Moderate. You’ll need a puller to remove the old clutch, a torque wrench (60-70 ft-lb on the center bolt), and a feeler gauge to set air gap (0.010-0.015”). Expect 45-90 minutes.
  • Wire vs. solid pulley: The steel billet pulley is machined, not stamped – less vibration and better belt life. The wire harness is replaceable (common failure point on OEM units).
  • Break-in: No special break-in, but avoid full-load engagement for the first 10 cycles (engage, let blades spin up, disengage) to seat the friction material.

Should You Buy It

If you’re running a commercial zero-turn with a 54”+ deck and burning through OEM clutches every season, this is a smart upgrade. The replaceable bearings and higher torque capacity reduce downtime and cost per hour. For residential use on a 42” deck, it’s overkill – stick with OEM.
