What It Is

The DEWALT DCB606 is a high-capacity 6.0-Ah lithium-ion battery that works across DEWALT’s FLEXVOLT platform, automatically switching between 20V MAX and 60V MAX output depending on the tool. It’s designed for power-hungry lawn tools like 60V string trimmers, leaf blowers, chainsaws, and mowers, as well as any 20V MAX yard or shop tool.

Fitment & Compatibility

  • Voltage check: This battery is NOT backwards compatible with 18V NiCad or older 18V XRP tools. It only works with DEWALT 20V MAX and 60V MAX tools.
  • Physical fit: The battery slides onto any DEWALT 20V/60V tool with the standard slide-on interface. It also fits DEWALT chargers (DCB1104, DCB115, etc.) but will NOT charge on older 18V chargers.
  • Tool compatibility: Use with DEWALT 60V mowers (DCMW220, DCMW225), 60V string trimmers (DCST970, DCST972), 60V blowers (DCBL770, DCBL772), and any 20V MAX yard tool. Confirm your tool’s voltage requirement on the tool label before buying.
  • Aftermarket vs OEM: This is genuine DEWALT. Aftermarket batteries may be cheaper but often lack the FLEXVOLT auto-switching feature and may have lower capacity or safety certifications.

Key Things to Know

  • Capacity: 6.0-Ah at 20V output, but only 2.0-Ah at 60V output (because the cells are reconfigured in series). For 60V tools, expect runtime comparable to a 2.0-Ah pack.
  • Installation: No tools required—just slide onto the tool’s battery port until it clicks. Removal requires pressing the release button.
  • Common gotcha: The battery is heavy (about 2.2 lbs). On handheld tools like trimmers, it can feel unbalanced. Consider a lighter 20V battery for extended overhead use.
  • Charging time: Roughly 60–90 minutes on a standard DEWALT charger. Using a fast charger (DCB118) cuts time to about 45 minutes.

Should You Buy It

Buy this if you own DEWALT 60V lawn tools and need maximum runtime for large yards, or if you want a single battery that works across both 20V and 60V tools. Skip it if you only use 20V tools—a 20V 6.0-Ah (DCB206) is lighter and cheaper. For 60V users, it’s the best OEM balance of power and capacity.
