What It Is

This is a 7-terminal PTO (blade engagement) switch for zero-turn mowers. It controls the electric clutch that engages and disengages the mower blades. Designed as a direct replacement for OEM Cub Cadet and MTD models, it’s a common wear item on residential and light commercial zero-turn mowers.

Fitment & Compatibility

Before buying, confirm all three:

  • OEM Cross-Reference: Fits Cub Cadet/MTD part numbers 925-3233A, 725-3233A, 925-3233, 725-3233, and Delta 6201-308, 6204-308.
  • Machine Models: Works on Cub Cadet RTZ, XT2, ZT1, ZTR, and other zero-turn models using a 10-amp, 7-terminal PTO switch. Not for standard riding mowers or push mowers.
  • Physical Check: The switch should have 7 flat spade terminals (spacing 0.187” or 0.250” depending on row). Measure your original switch’s terminal layout and overall length (approx. 1.5” x 1” x 2”). If your switch has 5 or 6 terminals, this won’t fit.

Key Things to Know

  • Quality vs OEM: This is an aftermarket switch. It works well for the price, but some users report slightly lighter plastic housing than the OEM Cub Cadet switch. For occasional use, it’s fine; for heavy daily mowing, OEM may last longer.
  • Installation Difficulty: Easy swap. Unplug the old switch (note wire positions or take a photo), remove mounting screws, install new switch, reconnect wires. No special tools needed.
  • Common Gotcha: The terminals are labeled (B, L1, L2, etc.). Match wires exactly—reversing L1 and L2 can cause the clutch to not engage or blow a fuse. Use a multimeter to confirm continuity if unsure.
  • 10-Amp Rating: This switch is rated for 10 amps. Do not use on mowers requiring a 15- or 20-amp switch (check your original switch’s amp rating printed on the side).

Should You Buy It

Buy this if you have a Cub Cadet or MTD zero-turn mower with a failed 7-terminal PTO switch and want a budget-friendly replacement that works. It’s a good value for DIY repair, but if you mow commercially or want the longest possible lifespan, stick with the OEM Cub Cadet switch.
