What It Is

This is a complete carburetor assembly for small 4-stroke engines used on Cub Cadet walk-behind mowers, edgers, and trimmers, plus select Troy-Bilt models. It replaces OEM part numbers 951-14423 and 751-14423, and includes a matching air filter (951-10298).

Fitment & Compatibility

Check your model number – confirmed fit for Cub Cadet SC300HW, SC100, SC100HW, SC500Z, SC500, SC500HW, SC500EZ, LE100 edger, and ST100 trimmer. Also fits Troy-Bilt 5X65RU and 6X65RU. Does not fit SC300 (non-HW) or SC300H (without W). Measure your mounting flange bolt spacing – it’s a standard 2-bolt pattern (approx. 2.5″ center-to-center). If your engine has a different air filter housing shape, the included filter may not seal. This is an aftermarket part, not OEM Cub Cadet.

Key Things to Know

  • Installation difficulty: Moderate. You’ll need to swap the old carb’s gaskets and possibly the fuel line elbow. No special tools beyond a socket set and screwdriver.
  • Quality note: Users report it runs well out of the box, but some need a tiny idle speed screw adjustment (turn 1/8 turn clockwise if it stalls at low RPM).
  • Common gotcha: The included air filter is a flat foam type – if your original used a paper element, verify the housing fits before installing.
  • Warranty: Typical 30-day return window. Test immediately after install.

Should You Buy It

If your Cub Cadet or Troy-Bilt won’t start, runs rough, or leaks fuel, this is a solid budget fix – ~$19 beats a $60 OEM carb. It’s best for DIYers comfortable swapping a carb and making a minor idle adjustment. Skip it if you want exact OEM fit with zero tweaking.
