What It Is

This is a 136-inch long, 5/8-inch wide Aramid cord replacement deck belt for 42- to 54-inch cutting decks on Cub Cadet, Troy-Bilt, MTD, AYP, and select Exmark/Scag zero-turn mowers. It drives the blades from the engine pulley.

Fitment & Compatibility

Check three things before buying:

  • Measure your old belt – Must be exactly 136" long x 5/8" wide. Even 1/4" off can cause slipping or poor engagement.
  • Deck size & model – Common on 42", 46", 50", and 54" decks. Fits Cub Cadet GT1054, GTX1054, Troy-Bilt, MTD, and AYP models. Also replaces OEM numbers 754-04083, 954-04083, 539109243, 382064, 382084, Exmark 126-0783, Scag 483243.
  • Verify your deck’s belt routing – Some decks use a single long belt; others use two. This is a single belt. Confirm your mower doesn’t require a separate PTO belt.

Key Things to Know

  • Aramid cord vs. standard rubber – Aramid is stronger and resists stretching better than standard polyester belts. It handles heat and debris better, but costs slightly more.
  • Installation difficulty – Moderate. You’ll need to remove the deck or at least the belt guard. A belt tensioner tool (or a long screwdriver) helps release spring tension.
  • Common gotcha – The belt may appear too tight at first. Rotate the blades by hand to seat it fully before running. If it squeals on startup, check the tensioner pulley for wear.
  • Not for all mowers – Avoid if your deck uses a 1/2" wide belt or a different length (e.g., 135" or 137"). Double-check your model’s parts diagram.

Should You Buy It

Yes, if you own a compatible Cub Cadet, Troy-Bilt, MTD, or AYP lawn tractor with a 42–54" deck and want a durable, OEM-level replacement that resists stretching. It’s a solid upgrade over basic rubber belts for the price. Skip it only if your mower requires a different length or width.
