What It Is

The 8TEN LawnRAZOR Blade is a low-lift aftermarket replacement blade set for 50-inch cutting decks on Cub Cadet and Troy-Bilt zero-turn mowers (ZT2, ZT1, ZTS2 series) and compatible select MTD-built models. Designed for dry, normal grass conditions, the low-lift profile reduces engine load and improves bagging performance compared to standard medium-lift blades.

Fitment & Compatibility

  • Deck size must be exactly 50 inches – measure your deck width. This 3-pack covers a three-blade spindle setup (each blade ~16.5 inches long with a 1-inch center hole and 5-point star drive).
  • Direct OEM cross-reference: 742P05094-L / 742-05094-L. Fits Cub Cadet ZT1 50, ZT2 50, ZTS2 50, Troy-Bilt Mustang 50, and other MTD-built 50-inch zero-turn mowers using that OEM blade pattern.
  • Check your blade orientation and drive type – these are low-lift with a star center hole. They will not fit round-center-hole spindles or decks with different spindle spacing.
  • Not for 46-inch or 54-inch decks – even if the same tractor model line, the blade length and spindle pattern differ.

Key Things to Know

  • Low lift = less airflow – not ideal for wet, thick, or tall grass. Expect reduced suction and potential clumping in heavy conditions.
  • Installation is straightforward – requires a 15/16-inch socket or wrench for the center bolt. Torque to 70-90 ft-lbs (check your manual). Use thread locker on bolts.
  • Balanced out of box – most users report no noticeable vibration. Still, always check balance with a blade balancer before installing.
  • Price vs OEM – at ~$18 per blade, these are about 40% cheaper than Cub Cadet OEM blades. Build quality is good but not identical to factory steel.

Should You Buy It

If you mow dry, well-maintained lawns with a 50-inch Cub Cadet or Troy-Bilt zero-turn and want a cost-effective replacement that bags well and sips fuel, this is a solid choice. Skip it if you regularly cut wet grass or need maximum lift for mulching or heavy debris – you’ll want a medium- or high-lift blade instead.
