This is a genuine Honda OEM dual-blade kit (upper blade 72511-VH7-000, lower blade 72531-VH7-000) designed for the HRX217 series’ Versamow system. The two blades work together to mulch or bag—switching between cutting and lifting action depending on deck position.
Fitment & Compatibility
Only fits Honda HRX217 models with the Versamow deck: HRX217K1, K2, K3, K4, HXA, VKA, and earlier HRX217 variants. Does not fit HRX216, HRR216, or any non-Versamow deck.
- Deck size must be 21 inches.
- Measure your existing upper blade length (approx. 21”) and lower blade (approx. 16.5”) to confirm.
- Check your model number on the deck’s sticker or under the seat—this kit replaces only OEM Honda parts, not aftermarket “universal” blades.
- If you’re swapping from a single-blade setup, you need the entire Versamow system, not just blades.
Key Things to Know
- Installation is moderate – you must align both blades and the drive plate correctly; the lower blade has a specific offset. Tighten bolts to 35-40 ft-lbs.
- Mulching quality is excellent – the dual-blade design creates a fine cut, but only if the deck is clean and blades are sharp. Dull blades will tear grass.
- Beware of counterfeit – genuine Honda blades have a distinct blue coating and stamped part numbers. Cheap knockoffs may not balance correctly.
- Use only OEM hardware – the included bolts and washers are torque-to-yield; reuse them at your own risk. Replace every season or after hitting a large obstacle.
Should You Buy It
If you own an HRX217 with Versamow and want factory-grade mulching performance without guesswork, this kit is the right choice. It’s pricier than aftermarket sets, but the fit, balance, and cut quality are proven. Skip it if you have a different model or prefer single-blade bagging—you’ll need a different setup.
