What It Is

This 50-inch mower deck rebuild kit includes four replacement spindles (part 618-06981), three blades (942-05052A), one drive belt (754-04077), and one idler pulley (GY22082). It’s designed for Cub Cadet XT1 LT50, XT2 LX50, Troy-Bilt TB2350, and Columbia CYT5023SE tractors—any 50-inch deck with a three-blade, spindle-driven system.

Fitment & Compatibility

  • Deck size must be exactly 50 inches. Measure from outside blade tip to outside blade tip (or deck shell width). A 46-inch or 54-inch deck won’t fit.
  • Check your model’s OEM spindle part number. This kit uses 618-06981 spindles. If your current spindles are 618-06982 or 718-06982, they are not interchangeable without modifying the deck mounting holes.
  • Blade part 942-05052A is a 16.5-inch, 3-point star center hole blade. Verify your blade length and hole pattern match before installing.
  • Belt 754-04077 is a 1/2-inch x 120-inch Kevlar-reinforced belt. Confirm your deck’s belt routing and length—some 50-inch decks use a 122-inch belt.
  • Idler pulley GY22082 is a 4-inch flat idler with a 5/8-inch bore. Measure your old idler’s diameter and shaft size.

Key Things to Know

  • Spindles are aftermarket, not OEM. They may have slightly different bearing quality or housing thickness. Inspect for smooth rotation before installation; replace if gritty.
  • Installation difficulty is moderate. You’ll need a socket set, a torque wrench (spindle bolts: 30-35 ft-lbs), and a blade puller. Expect 1.5–2 hours for a first-timer.
  • Common gotcha: The blade bolts may be reverse-thread on some models. Check your deck manual before tightening—lefty-loosey is not always correct.
  • Belt tension adjustment is critical. Too loose causes slipping, too tight wears spindles. Use the deck’s tensioner arm and check for 1/4-inch deflection with moderate thumb pressure.

Should You Buy It

If your 50-inch Cub Cadet, Troy-Bilt, or Columbia deck is showing spindle wobble, blade dullness, or belt fraying, this kit is a cost-effective one-stop rebuild. It’s ideal for DIY owners who want to refresh the entire deck in one afternoon rather than piecemealing parts. Skip it if you need OEM-specific spindles or if your deck uses a different belt length or blade pattern—verify compatibility first.
