What It Is

This is a 6-pack of high-lift mower blades designed to replace OEM parts on commercial zero-turn and walk-behind mowers. High-lift blades create more upward airflow for superior grass clipping discharge and bagging performance, ideal for tall or damp grass.

Fitment & Compatibility

Before buying, verify these three things:

  1. Deck size: Fits 36" and 52" decks, but only if your deck uses a 6-blade configuration (common on Scag Tiger Cub, Wildcat, Turf Tiger, and John Deere walk-behinds). Not for 42" or 48" decks unless they also use 6 blades.

  2. OEM cross-reference: Replaces Ferris 21227S, 5021227; Scag 482462, 48108; Encore 481707. If your mower uses any of these part numbers, it’s compatible.

  3. Measurements: Each blade is approximately 18" long, 2.5" wide, with a 1" center hole and a 0.5" spindle hole. Measure your existing blade length, width, and hole sizes – if they match, these will fit.

Important: Not all Scag or John Deere decks use high-lift blades. Check your owner’s manual or existing blade part number first. If your deck uses standard (low-lift) or mulching blades, high-lift blades will change cutting performance.

Key Things to Know

  • Quality: Aftermarket blades from Lift are hardened steel with a powder coat finish. They’re slightly lighter than OEM but still durable for residential and light commercial use. Expect 20-30 hours of life in normal conditions.
  • Installation: Straightforward – remove the old blade, install new one with the lift wing pointing upward toward the deck. Torque to 70-90 ft-lbs. No special tools needed beyond a socket wrench.
  • Common gotcha: High-lift blades require more engine power and can cause belt slippage on older or underpowered mowers. If your mower struggles to throw grass, these may worsen the issue.
  • Set includes: Six blades total – enough for one full deck with no spares. Buy two sets if you want backups.

Should You Buy It

Buy this if you have a compatible Scag, Ferris, or Encore mower with a 6-blade 36" or 52" deck and need better bagging or side-discharge performance. It’s a solid value at $56.99 for a full set, especially compared to OEM pricing. Skip it if you primarily mulch, have a smaller deck, or your mower is older and underpowered – high-lift blades may strain the drivetrain.
