This is a 40V, 6.0Ah (6000mAh) lithium-ion battery replacement for Greenworks cordless lawn mowers, string trimmers, blowers, and other 40V tools. It’s designed to replace OEM Greenworks models 29252, 20202, 22262, 25312, 20642, 22272, 29462, and 29472, but not for first-generation Greenworks 40V tools.
Fitment & Compatibility
- Check your tool’s model number – This battery fits Greenworks 40V tools that use the “slide-on” style battery mount (common on G-Max and Pro models from ~2015 onward). It will not fit older “push-in” style connectors (Gen 1 tools).
- Verify your existing battery part number – Compare to the list above. If your original battery is a 29252, 20202, 22262, 25312, 20642, 22272, 29462, or 29472, this is a direct drop-in replacement.
- Physical size – Measures roughly 5.5” x 3.5” x 2.5”. Measure your battery compartment depth and width to ensure it fits (especially in compact mowers or tight tool housings).
- Charger compatibility – Works with any Greenworks 40V charger that has a slide-on port (most standard chargers, including model 29482 and 29972).
Key Things to Know
- Not for Gen 1 tools – If your Greenworks tool is older than ~2015 or has a rectangular, non-slide battery shape, this battery will not connect. Look for a 29462 or 29472 specifically if you have Gen 1.
- Aftermarket quality – This is a third-party replacement, not OEM. Some users report slightly shorter runtime vs. genuine Greenworks 6.0Ah batteries, but it’s generally reliable for light to medium use.
- Installation difficulty – None. Slide onto the tool until it clicks. No wiring or tools required.
- Common gotcha – The battery may feel slightly loose in some older tools. That’s normal for aftermarket; it won’t affect performance if it clicks securely.
Should You Buy It
If you need a budget-friendly backup or replacement for a Greenworks 40V tool (post-2015), and you’re okay with slightly less runtime than OEM, this is a solid pick. Avoid it if you have a Gen 1 tool or need maximum runtime for heavy commercial use.
