This is a set of three 20.5-inch Oregon Gator mulching blades (part #G5) designed for 48-inch Bad Boy and Hustler zero-turn mowers. They replace OEM blades (Bad Boy 038-5350-00/038-5350-0050; Hustler 795757) and use a patented serrated edge to cut grass clippings into fine particles for nutrient recycling and a clean cut.
Fitment & Compatibility
Before buying, verify these three things:
- Deck size and model: Fits only 48-inch decks on Bad Boy models using OEM 038-5350-00 or 038-5350-0050, and Hustler FasTrak Sport/X-One models using OEM 795757. Not for 42-inch or 54-inch decks.
- Center hole and bolt pattern: Center hole is 5/8-inch diameter with a 5-point star drive. Check your spindle’s bolt pattern—Oregon G5 blades use a 5-point star, not a standard hex. If your spindle uses a 7-point star or hex, these won’t fit.
- Blade length and thickness: Each blade is 20.5 inches long, 2.25 inches wide, and 0.187 inches thick. Measure your existing blade length; a mismatch can cause unbalanced cutting or deck damage.
Key Things to Know
- Quality: Oregon Gator blades are heat-treated steel with a serrated edge that stays sharp longer than standard blades, but they’re not as durable as OEM high-lift blades on rocky terrain—expect faster wear if hitting debris.
- Installation: Moderate difficulty. You’ll need a 5/8-inch socket and torque wrench (60-70 ft-lbs). The star pattern requires care to avoid stripping; use a blade removal tool to prevent spindle damage.
- Common gotchas: The serrated edge can leave a slightly ragged cut on wet grass. Also, these are mulching blades—they’re not designed for bagging or side-discharge. If you switch between modes, keep OEM blades handy.
- Set includes three blades: Confirm your deck uses three blades (not two or four). Some 48-inch decks vary by year.
Should You Buy It
Buy this if you have a 48-inch Bad Boy or Hustler zero-turn with a 5-point star spindle and want premium mulching performance for frequent mowing on fine turf. Skip it if you bag clippings, mow rocky lawns, or need standard lift blades—consider Oregon G5 high-lift or OEM replacements instead.
